Bonnie

Bonnie was injured by barbed wire, severely on her lower right hind.  She had been neglected for over a week before Mustang Alley was called to help.  We have her on antibiotics and we wash her wound 3 times a day to keep it circulating & clean.  Dr. Alex Dulaney will be preforming surgery when the deepest part fills in.

This is why we don’t allow barbed wire when we adopt out rescue horses.  She’s not even 3 years old, yet.  This could have been avoided.  Keep checking back on her progress.

I hate when people have the nerve neglect horses like that..I am looking forward to coming and volunteering I am sorry that it has been so long since we have come but I still love horses and I still hope to be able to come back as soon as possible..by

Hopefully the cold weather will keep the swelling down & the flies too. I had a horse that had gotten her leg hurt similiar to this one. We don’t have bob wire, but she is a dominant mare & we think she kicked & got her leg rubbed on the high tensil wire. She has completely healed now thanks for Mountain Empire Large Animal Hospital. I am sure this horse will heal. It is remarkable what vets can do with injuries these days. Good luck & best wishes!

We have 16 horses at this time (we have rescued 14 over the past few years) and I cannot understand how anyone could neglect a wound like this. I have no mercy on people who neglect, starve, or abuse these intelligent, loving, beautiful animals.
